That is the work Moving Fellows is built around here: full-household residential moves where the value of the contents and the cost of a bad day are both real. Furniture wrapped before it leaves the room, floors and door frames covered, and an estimate written after a walkthrough rather than guessed at over the phone.

It started as labor-only work around a university timetable — two people, a set of straps, and whatever jobs fitted between lectures. There was no truck for a while.
Seventeen years later it is a full-service moving company with crews in two Oregon markets, and it is worth being straight about what that origin does and does not mean. It does not make us a student moving service; the work we do now is mostly whole households and it needs a different kind of crew. What it does mean is that this company learned to move things carefully in Eugene, on Eugene streets, in Eugene buildings, before it learned to do anything else.
We still employ student-athletes here, which is a good fit for both sides — it is demanding, well-paid, schedulable work for people who already train seriously. They work alongside full-time crew, not instead of them.
The Eugene-specific things that decide a move day
Most of what goes wrong on a move was settled a week earlier, and in Eugene the recurring items are fairly predictable.
Parking is usually the first problem
Downtown and in the blocks around campus, where the truck can legally stop decides how far everything gets carried — and carrying distance is the part you pay for. Eugene Parking Services issues temporary permits, and the city can post temporary no-parking signage on short notice, so a spot that looked fine when you signed the lease may not be available on the day. We check the block before the date is confirmed rather than on the morning.
The university calendar moves the whole market
Late June through September is busy for every mover in Lane County at once, and the end of the month is busier still. That is not a Eugene quirk so much as a Eugene amplification — book a summer house move three to six weeks out or you will be choosing from what is left.
Older housing stock, narrower access
A lot of Eugene’s established neighbourhoods have the things that slow a crew down: tight staircases, back-of-house entries, mature street trees over the kerb. None of it is a problem if somebody has looked at it first. All of it is a problem if the first person to see the staircase is the one carrying the sofa up it.
Springfield is next door, and it is not a long-distance move
Eugene to Springfield is a local move and gets quoted as one. So does Eugene to Creswell, Junction City or Veneta. Eugene to Portland is roughly two hours and we treat it as a single-day move rather than an interstate one, in both directions.

How far in advance should I book a move in Eugene?
Three to four weeks for a house in most months. From late June through September, allow four to six. Every mover in Lane County is busy at the same time and the end of the month goes first.
Do you move between Eugene and Portland?
Yes, regularly and in both directions. It is roughly two hours and we treat it as a single-day move rather than a long-distance one.
Is Springfield a local move or a long-distance one?
Local. So are Creswell, Junction City and Veneta. They are quoted the same way as a move across Eugene.
