What makes it different

An apartment move is a building problem before it is a furniture problem

A three-bedroom house has more in it than a two-bedroom apartment. The apartment often takes longer.

The reason is never the furniture. It is the lift that turns out to be shared with everyone else moving that Saturday, the loading bay with a two-hour window, the management office that needs a certificate of insurance three days in advance and does not answer the phone on Fridays. None of that appears in a quote given over the phone, and all of it appears on move day.

So we deal with the building first. Before a date is confirmed we know what the rules are, what has to be reserved, and whether the truck can get within thirty feet of the door or three hundred. That last number is the one that decides what an apartment move costs.

Who we move

  • Professionals and couples moving between apartments, or from an apartment into a first house.
  • Families in rentals where the household is house-sized even if the address is not.
  • Downsizers moving from a house into an apartment, usually with storage involved.
  • Graduate students and staff relocating to or from Eugene with a full household rather than a car load.

If you have already rented a truck and only need the lifting, that is labor-only moving. If your household is bigger than the address suggests, it is a residential move and gets quoted as one.

Eugene specifics

What we check before quoting a Eugene apartment

Where the truck can legally stop

Downtown and in the blocks near campus this is the whole ball game. Eugene Parking Services issues temporary permits, and the city can post temporary no-parking signage at short notice, so the kerb outside your building on the day you signed the lease is not a guarantee. We check the block and arrange what needs arranging rather than finding out at eight in the morning.

The lift, and who else booked it

Buildings with a service lift almost always require a reservation, and in the last week of the month every mover in Lane County wants the same slot. Booking it is our job, not yours, but it has to happen early.

Certificates of insurance

Many managed buildings will not let a crew through the door without one naming the building as certificate holder. We issue these as routine. Tell us the management company at the walkthrough and it is handled.

Stairs, and how many turns

A third-floor walk-up is not three times a first-floor move. It depends far more on the landings and the turns than the flights. A sofa that will not make the turn at the half-landing has to go over a balcony or not at all, and that is a conversation for a walkthrough rather than for the stairs.

How it works

From walkthrough to keys back

Walkthrough, including the building

The unit, the route out, the lift, the loading zone and the management rules. Usually twenty minutes.

Paperwork and reservations

Certificate of insurance issued, lift booked, parking arranged where it needs to be.

Wrapped and carried

Furniture wrapped in the unit, floors and lift walls protected, nothing dragged through a shared corridor unprotected.

Placed and walked

Everything in the room you want it in, beds reassembled, and a walk of both places before the crew leaves.

Questions

Apartment moving in Eugene, answered

Do you handle the certificate of insurance for my building?

Yes. Tell us the management company at the walkthrough and we issue a certificate naming the building as certificate holder. Most managed buildings require one and will not let a crew in without it.

Will you book the service lift?

Yes, where the building requires a reservation. It needs doing early, particularly in the last week of the month when every mover wants the same slot.

How much does a third-floor walk-up add?

Less than people expect, and it depends more on the landings and turns than the number of flights. What actually drives the cost is carry distance from where the truck can park. We measure both at the walkthrough.

Can you move me within the same building?

Yes, and it is more common than you would think. A larger unit coming free, or a move to a lower floor. It is quoted by the hour rather than as a full move.

Do you do small apartment moves?

Yes, from a studio upward. Below a certain size a labor-only booking with your own vehicle may cost you less, and we will say so rather than quote a full move you do not need.

Is a mid-month move easier?

Yes, on both scheduling and the building. If your dates are flexible, avoiding the last weekend of the month is the single cheapest decision you can make.
