Packing is where a move is won or lost
Boxes decide how the day goes. Packed well, a house loads in a morning. Packed badly, the crew spends the afternoon repacking somebody else’s work.
We pack the way we load. That sounds obvious, and it is the single biggest difference between a crew packing a house and a homeowner packing it over three weekends. Weight goes low, boxes get filled to the top so they stack without crushing, and nothing goes in a carton that cannot be carried by one person.
Everything is labelled by the room it is going to, not the room it came from. That one detail is why an unpack takes an evening instead of a fortnight.
Three ways people use it
- Full packing. We handle the entire household, kitchen and closets included, usually the day before the move.
- Partial packing. The most common choice. You do the clothes, books and personal things; we do the kitchen, the glassware, the art and the garage.
- Fragile-only. You pack everything except the things you would rather not be responsible for.
Unpacking is available on the other end, including taking the empty cartons away rather than leaving them stacked in your hallway.

Packing is quoted from a walkthrough, because the number of boxes a kitchen produces cannot be guessed over the phone.

One room finished and labelled before the next is opened, so the house stays usable and nothing gets orphaned.

Boxes go on the truck in the order the rooms come off at the other end.
The crew that packs it is the crew that lifts it
When packing and moving are two different companies, nobody owns the outcome. A carton that fails on the stairs is the packer’s fault and the mover’s problem, and you are the one holding the pieces.
We do both, so the person taping the box is the person who has to carry it down two flights. That alignment does more for how a box is packed than any policy.
What we will not pack
- Hazardous materials. Fuel, propane, solvents, aerosols under pressure, ammunition and open chemicals.
- Perishable food. Anything from the fridge or freezer travels with you, not with us.
- Irreplaceable documents and valuables. Passports, deeds, jewellery and cash should stay in your own car. We will tell you this on the walkthrough.
- Anything already packed by someone else, unless we can inspect it. We are not able to stand behind a carton we did not fill.

How long does packing a house take?
A two-bedroom typically takes a crew most of a day. A four-bedroom with a full kitchen and a garage is usually a day and a half. We pack the day before the move wherever the schedule allows, so move day starts with a house that is ready.
Do I need to buy boxes?
No. Cartons, paper, tape and specialty containers come with the crew and are included in the packing quote.
Can I pack some of it myself?
Yes, and most people do. Partial packing is the most common arrangement. Tell us at the walkthrough which rooms you are taking on, and we quote the rest.
What happens to the empty boxes afterwards?
If you book unpacking, we take the empties away the same day. Otherwise they are yours to keep or recycle.
Do you pack televisions and computers?
Yes. Screens go in purpose-made cartons rather than the original packaging, which is usually long gone. Tell us at the walkthrough how many there are.
